Devotions - Teacher

What is a teacher? A teacher is a person who teaches or instructs. Who then, is a teacher? Someone with a PHD, Masters, Degree? I tell you the truth, each one of you is a teacher. Hard to believe right but think with me, have you ever tell someone that littering is bad? Have you told someone how to use the computer? Have you share with someone your experience? Then you have teach someone before and by definition, you are a teacher.

Now to my brothers and sisters in Christ, have you ever share Christ with anyone? Have you ever preach to any one before? Or do you thing that preaching or sharing Christ is for the leaders or the Pastors of the Church? It is written in the Bible that God's Word will be heard by the world and you and I have a part to play. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." Matthew 24:14

I remembered once I was called to join my leaders for their weekly leaders meeting and I always felt unprepared. I can't memories verses and my spiritual growth is much lesser then them. But one my leader shared with me that we have 3 things in common.
  1. Our God is the same God
  2. The text book that we use is the same and it is the Bible. "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17
  3. Our helper is the same. "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I have said to you." John 14:26
God know that we are not equip so He prepared for us by giving us a textbook to read and a teacher who always teaches us the truth so how can we say we are not ready? "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20, for this is the Great Commission.

For those young ones who are fearful like I once was, let me encourage you with this verse, "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12

Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your word, thank you for giving the greatest counselors we ever needed. You word is truth to us all and we want to share with our friends and family. Help us Lord to have strength, courage and wisdom as we tell of your goodness. Guild our mouth and tongue as we speak and correct us when we are wrong. Let us be a wonderful teacher just like Jesus. We bless you Lord. In Jesus most precious name we pray.
Amen.

Devotions - Christmas

Christmas falls on the 25 December every year. It is known as Thanks Giving all round the world and families come together to have their Thanks Giving dinner and prepare for Christmas. As the festive season draw near, shopping malls are filled with presents, food and decoration. People starts buying gifts and preparing meal for Christmas. Everyone is getting excited and starts counting down as 12 midnight draws near. As the clock struck 12 midnight, joyous cheer fills the street and people exchange gift and hugs and starts singing Christmas carols. That is Christmas to majority of the world.

But is that really what Christmas is all about? I tell you the truth, that is not Christmas. We have totally miss the true meaning of Christmas. Christmas is a day of celebration, a celebration of the birth of the Saviour of the world, Jesus Christ.

We are all sinner by nature because of Adam's disobedience to God. The world is full of sinners and for all of us sinners, only death (eternal separation from God) awaits us. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23. God destroyed the world once during the Great Flood but God also made a covenant with Noah that He will not destroy the world again. Genesis 9:11 "I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth."

It is written in the Bible that for every sin, blood is needed to be shed for the forgiveness of God. "For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul." Leviticus 17:11. The Old Testament provided for the offering of certain select animals whose blood was shed vicariously for the sins of those who repented and trusted God's revelation. However, even if any man had wanted to, he could not offer himself in payment for his sins, for his sin had disqualified him from being an acceptable sacrifice. All of the spotless, innocent animals that became sacrifices in the Old Testament pointed to that great sacrifice, the one made by Jesus Christ on Calvary's cross. Thats why John the Baptist introduced Him, saying "Behold! The Lamb of God, who take away the sin of the world." John 1:29.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

The penalty God imposed on sin is both just and loving, for God Himself, in the Person of the Son, paid that penalty for all who will accept Him as their Substitute. God the Son, clothed in human form, shed His blood for man's sin, thus satisfying every demand of holy justice. And through that precious blood, God showed Himself to be both just and justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus, Romans 3:26. With the death of Christ, His blood washed away all of our sins, past and to come.

In Christ, we have redemption through His Blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. Ephesians 1:7

Christmas is the birthday of Jesus Christ, King of all kings, Lord of lords but yet we forgotten this very special day. We have forgotten to thank God for His love, for His grace and for His blood which He shed to remove all our sins. Let us all come back to the Lord but remembering all he had done for us and let us not be blinded by the world and what the media has for us. Christmas is not about the big man in a red suit nor is it about food and decoration. It is not about the many gift we receive but the one special gift that God had given 2000 years ago.

There is this Christmas carol titled Silence Night but do you know, on the day when Jesus was born, there was a war raging in heaven. Reading Revelation 12, we can tell that the devil was going all out against God because he knows that Christ the Saviour is about to be born. So let us not forget what God has done for all of us on this special day. God send His Son to the world to save it and we should thank Him for His wonderful grace and worship God even more on Christmas.

Let us pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the greatest gift of love, that you send Jesus Christ your Son to the world to save us all. Father forgive us if we have forgotten the significance of this day and help us Lord to always remember you grace that you have given us. Lord thank you for all you have done on earth and dying on the cross. We celebrate your special day and we bless you wonderful name. Thank you Father once again for your love. Continue to guild us your children as we worship you and celebrate you gift of love. Bless you Lord. In Jesus most precious name we pray.
Amen.

Welcome to Faith Learning

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Hebrews 11:6

Greetings in Jesus name. Indeed it is true, that without faith, it is impossible to please God. But we do have to ask ourselves, what is Faith? We can get the answer 5 verses before that. "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1

I always love what one of my brother shared with me about Faith. He told me:
  1. Faith is seeing the invisible
  2. Faith is believing in the impossible
  3. Faith is understanding the incomprehensible
Faith is a journey and everyday we are walking on the path of Faith. The path is sometimes straight and easy to walk but most of the time, there are ups and downs, bumps along the way. Sometimes we run, sometimes we crawl. Some might take a longer path then others. Some may even be walking backwards instead of forwards. But I believe our final destination is the same and that is God.

So even before you start reading my devotions, let us say a short prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for been a faithful God. Thank you for being our source of strength, wisdom and knowledge. Lord even as I share my thoughts from my heart and as the people read them, Lord I just ask that You anoint us and teach us what You have in mind for us. I pray that the sharing that I have and the mediation of my hearts is acceptable and pleasing before You. Thank you Father. In Jesus most precious name we pray.
Amen.

Devotions - Introduction

This section is where I'll share my devotions as I seek the Lord and read upon His words and also what I have learn from my Pastors, Leaders, Brothers and also my own personal reading.

The Bible is a book of life and it is also known as the living Bible because a verse in the Bible can teach us different truth and I believe that God has prepare different verses for us at different situation in our life and for different condition of our heart. We can learn new truth each time we read of His word and meditate upon it.

So what does it mean to meditate upon a word or a verse and how do we do it? Basically meditating a verse means to put in much thought about it or to reflect upon it. So how do we do it? I remember my leader told me that if we know how to worry, then we know how to meditate upon a verse and it is very true. After our morning devotion, spent the rest of the day thinking of the verses you read and ask God to review His will to you through the day. You will be amazed by how much more you can learn through the day.

When we read the Bible, we may wonder whether the Bible will speak to us or do we understand a certain verse in the Bible. Well, look with me to John 14:15-17, "If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you." and John 16:13 "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come." The Holy Spirit is always with us and it is He who teaches and guilds us when we read God's word.

So do not worry as it will be an exciting time as you spent time with God and hear Him speak to you.
